"Do It Like Deming" Podcast
Meet the man who after WWII gave the Japanese (through an official US re-building effort) the business keys to becoming the global leader of products by the 1970's. He then did the same for United States business to re-capture the lead by the 1990's.
I ran across a link to this BBC podcast which is now almost two years old but should not be forgotten. Great insights into the man, the history, his perspectives, and what it means to people.
The info about the podcast is located at this webpage http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/news/inbusiness/inbusiness_20050630.shtml Click on the the link in the "Listen Again" heading located right above the photo of "Presenter" Peter Day.
Deming knew the importance of asking questions and reflection as demonstrated by his quote "Experiences teaches nothing unless we ask a question for experience to answer" . He combined managerial principles with the 'people-part' of organizations.
For more information on Deming, I suggest reading his philosophies at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W._Edwards_Deming
We also have exerpts from his famous book Out of Crisis two decades ago which was written to help American organizations get back their leading role--http://thankingcustomers.com/deming.html
